A high deviation significantly reduces the returned signal strength and hence the measurement range. We have Zygo inferometer for inspection, most companies don't have Zygo inferometer because of high cost. After manufacture, each prism is measured by Zygo inferometer to determine its beam deviation. LEICA and SECO company both use ZYGO GPI-XP/D interferometer to test and confirm the beam deviation of prisms to ensure that they meet specifications.
